IPB Internasional Luncurkan Bali Film School

DENPASAR, NusaBali.com - The Institute of Tourism and Business (IPB) International, in collaboration with Asymetry Movie Studios, launched the Bali Film School on Monday (31/10/2022).

Bali Film School will be an addition to the IPB International institution, which previously included the Bali School of Hospitality (SPB).

Bali Film School will start offering classes in the academic year 2022/2023. There are two study programs available, namely the 1-year film-making program and the 1-year screenwriting program.

The Rector of IPB International, Dr. I Made Sudjana SE MM CHT CHA, mentioned that the film industry has experienced rapid development in recent years. Particularly, many young people create short videos on social media.

"The idea emerged, especially in Bali where it doesn't exist yet, so we developed a film academy," said Sudjana during the launch event held at the IPB International Campus, Jalan Kecak 12, Tonja, North Denpasar.

He added that while Bali has been an inspiration for national and international films, there haven't been many young Balinese individuals directly involved in film production.

Sudjana hopes that in the future, Bali can also become a film production hub worldwide. "So that the young generation of Bali can have skills and abilities in the field of filmmaking," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Dharma Widya Ulangun Foundation, which oversees IPB International, Dr. Drs. I Nyoman Gede Astina MPd CHT CHA, expressed appreciation for the development of the Bali Film School at IPB International.

The foundation's representative stated that they always encourage the campus to explore various emerging opportunities and potentials.

"The current trend is that young people are making films, especially short films. It is very beneficial for those who have products that can be promoted through short films," said Astina.

He continued, stating that Bali, as a world tourism destination, has many tourism businesses that require marketing, and one of the ways is through short films. Additionally, through films, young Balinese individuals can express their ideas.

Astina is optimistic about the future of Bali Film School. The foundation provides state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to support the learning process, which will involve more hands-on practices.

Meanwhile, Topaz Peretz, the Founder of Asymetry Movie Studios and the appointed Director of Bali Film School, revealed that Bali Film School will provide space for young Balinese individuals to enter the rapidly growing film industry.

"We will provide access to students to pursue careers in the international film industry," said the graduate of New York Film Academy.

Topaz mentioned that the global film industry is currently growing rapidly. Therefore, Bali Film School will also involve practitioners who have extensive knowledge of the current developments in the film world. Esteemed international instructors, including renowned film professors from the United States, will be brought in as teachers.
